The Wedding Guest: Flirty Floral

I wore this dress with similar accessories for my cousin’s wedding a few months ago in March. Now if you’re familiar with Midwest winters, particularly the Chiberia we just had, you will know that March is unpredictable weather-wise (much as June is turning out to be). Some years I’m showing off my pale legs in shorts, other years (like this one) I’m shivering in a down coat.

Winter weddings are rare for me, so I knew I wanted to find something that fit the weather and the celebratory occasion. Remember my love of polka dots? It’s still going strong.

I truly believe floral and polka dots were made for each other, but it is all about finding the right balance. A small subtle dot with a big, two toned floral print pairs like fancy wine and cheap Mexican food – unexpected perfection.

Plus, I love breaking the rules and pairing navy and black {hate on, haters} When done right with shades of navy that are clearly navy, it makes a sleek and fun look for a late winter or fall wedding/bridal shower/ fancy dinner date.
